Our economics program will equip you with the skills necessary to understand how people make decisions and use resources in different contexts. As an economist, you will be able to design better policy instruments that promote societal well-being and address the most pressing social and economic issues.

Our mission is to train you to become a social scientist with a deep curiosity for understanding the complexities of the world around you, and a commitment to developing public policies and intervention strategies that enhance individual well-being across various fields such as education, health, work, environment, international trade, finance, and regional planning. You will become an expert in understanding economic and social phenomena, as well as in rigorously and creatively measuring, analyzing, and studying data and information.

High-quality accreditation from the CNA of the Ministry of National Education, Res. 1098 of February 03, 2023, valid for 8 years, and dual degree with Tilburg University, Toulouse School of Economics, and University of London - LSE.

Most of the courses on the economics curriculum have 6 hours of classroom instruction each week: 4 hours with the lead professor and 2 hours of independent study support, led by top-performing students who serve as peer tutors for the courses.

There are various teaching methods and learning activities that vary depending on the course content, and all are designed to enhance your analytical skills for easily understanding complex problems, improve your oral and written communication skills, strengthen your ethical judgement, and elevate your professional practice. TU FORMACIÓN COMO ECONOMISTA SE FUNDAMENTA EN TRES ÁREAS PRINCIPALMENTE:

Economic Theory

You will study all the theoretical concepts and foundations in different microeconomic and macroeconomic contexts and relate them to the historical circumstances that shaped the evolution of economic thought.

Mathematical Skills

You will learn how to formalize and express economic theory hypotheses using mathematics, analyze and project data, and use software to develop your statistical programming skills and build models on economic events or individual behaviors.

Applied Topics

You will study a wide range of courses in depth, covering various applied economic topics related to the research interests of our professors, as well as current issues such as poverty, public policy evaluation, the environment, and economic integration.

They are all part of a well-established international academic and research network spanning different fields, which supports teaching efforts and promotes high-quality and relevant scientific research.

31% of our teachers are from abroad, including from Germany, Argentina, Ecuador, Spain, Guatemala, Turkey, and Peru. All full-time professors in the School hold a PhD, and teaching professors have either a master's degree or a PhD, along with industry experience, ensuring a high-quality and high-level education.
